Jennifer Flowers
FEI Rider & Competitor • USDF Silver & Bronze Medalist • USDF L Graduate
Jennifer has been in the teaching arena for 18 years, starting when she was just 16 years old and involved with Pony Club, assisting with unmounted and mounted lessons as part as their rating curriculum. After graduating High School, she was given the opportunity to travel and become a working student in England. Upon returning, she became a working student at an Eventing barn specializing in importing top horses. While there, she taught beginner and intermediate dressage and jumping lessons.
After completing a one week long certification, with the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA), Jennifer became certified as a Level 4 Dressage and Jumping Instructor (the highest level they offer!). She was also offered a position as an ACI (Assistant Clinical Instructor) where she would have the opportunity to travel and assist the Certification Instructor certify other applicants. Shortly thereafter, Jennifer created her first teaching and lesson company, named D & B Training, which at one time had over 40 students including: AA Hunters, lower level Dressage Riders and Eventers competing all over the Eastern US.
Jennifer began riding Dressage at the National Level in 2009 when her Eventing prospect, Serendipity, let her know that Eventing was not going to be her sport. Instead of selling her, Jen decided to start taking formal Dressage lessons with Jules Nyssen & Stacy Hastings to see if she might have a future as a Dressage horse. Later on, Jennifer shared the arena alongside Stacey while hosting her entire training program at her family facility, Full Circle Farm in Statesville NC, for around 3 years.
For the 2010-2011 academic season, Jennifer was the Head Coach of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s Hunter and Dressage Teams. She coached 25 Hunters and 8 Dressage riders. At the conclusion of the school term, she decided to focus on being an independent Dressage Instructor, and no longer offered competitive jumping lessons, as her personal riding interests had changed.
In 2011, Jennifer was awarded the Iron Spring Farm US National IBOP Cup Reserve Champion with the Friesian Mare, Zucci Royal, and was also selected to ride Zucci Royal in the US Young Horse Clinic with Scott Hassler. In addition, she has also won several IFSHA Friesian World Championship Titles from 2012-2013 in Intro, First, Second and Third Level on several different Friesians.
Jennifer showed her personal horse (who she also started under saddle), Serendipity, through 4th Level. While owning this wonderful horse, she was fortunate to ride and train with some amazing clinicians such as Michael Poulin, Catherine Haddad Staller, and Janet Foy. In 2013, Jennifer took Serendipity and 3 other horses that she had in training to DeLeon Springs, FL for a month of training with Michael Poulin. During this time, she rode in 3 lessons a day, 6 days a week with Michael, and took home some amazing knowledge and new insight for riding and training.
In addition to Michael, Jennifer has also ridden and hosted several clinics at her facility, Full Circle Farm, with Michael Berisone and again with Catherine Haddad Staller on multiple horses in 2013-2014.
In November 2014, Jennifer was chosen to ride her 3yr old Hanoverian gelding as a demo rider in the NCDCTA Symposium with Linda Zang. It was this experience that altered Jennifer's approach to Dressage basics from that point on. Amazed after following and explaining the basics of the training scale, how it should be applied to the development of the young horse, and how her young horse responded, Jennifer immediately sought out where Linda would be next, and went on the waiting list to be a rider with crossed fingers. Today, Jennifer currently ride 5 horses under the guidance of Linda Zang on a regular basis.
In 2015, Jennifer's clinic experience has included: Catherine Haddad, Olympic Event rider Clayton Fredericks, Julio Mendoza, Janet Foy, Debbie McDonald Symposium, and Susie Wiedman; and in August of 2015, Jennifer earned her USDF Silver Medal!
